Swimming Pool PVC Union Connection with O-Ring
Swimming Pool PVC Union Connection with O-Ring
Details
Component: PVC Union / Union Connector with O-Ring
Main purpose: Creates a watertight, leak-resistant connection between pool equipment and PVC piping.
O-Ring: The black rubber ring sits inside the union groove and provides the actual seal when the union nut is tightened.
Union Nut: The large grey/black threaded nut holds the two union sections together.
Typical applications:
Swimming pool pumps
Sand/DE/cartridge filters
Multiport valves
Ball valves
Heaters and other pool equipment
Advantage: The connection can be opened easily for pump/filter maintenance or replacement without cutting the PVC pipe.
Material: Usually PVC/CPVC or similar durable plastic, with a rubber/elastomer O-ring.
Sizes: Common pool unions include 1.5' (50 mm) and 2' (63 mm), but the exact size cannot be confirmed from this photo alone. Manufacturers offer both sizes with O-rings.
Installation
Place the O-Ring correctly in its groove.
Align the two union faces.
Tighten the union nut by hand.
Do not overtighten, as this can damage the union or O-ring.
Run the pump and check for leakage.
